update and giveaway!

Hello! It's been a while! If you follow me on Twitter, you'd know that I've been without a laptop for a while... But I have it back now and so my whining is over! I really missed the internet and my to do list just kept growing and growing. Yesterday, my sis-in-law Amy and I went out to take some photos of my art and books in the city, in the most nature-full spots we could find (just for fun).

Here's a photo of the Oh Sweet Woods mini book in the industrial wilderness that is my parking lot. Still, I think it looks nice! An update on those, of the 5 special edition versions of the book (with all the nice little extras), 3 have been reserved and I am giving one away (read on for more details)! So there is one left, if you would like all the frills! If you want the no frills version (though I think it's still pretty frilly), I've put 5 up in my etsy shop right here.

(key, padlock, get it?)

Oh and this! I've printed the collages from my Language of Flowers set in an accordian fold book, there are 8 colour illustrations in all. It's wrapped with a doily and watercolour tape, with a stamped title. I loved taking pictures of this sitting near/in/on/with flowers, it just seems natural—it being a flower-themed book!

Above is my lovely (and helpful) sister!

There are more and more of these...

I mentioned a giveaway—and it might be sneaky for me to put it all the way at the bottom of this post!

Leave a comment and I will randomly pick one winner on Monday, June 8th. (Make sure to leave your email address!)

Hope your summers are lovely so far!

where do you call home?

These photos are from yesterday, because today we're back in our hometown for a visit. As soon as I put up those little butterfly cutouts with sticky tac, the cat was right up there to try and eat them. She is so adorable sometimes, although trying to ruin all my hard work.

These little vellum envelopes (below) are filled with dried flowers, twigs, leaves, pressed flowers, doilies, and some paper confetti. They're sealed on both ends with tape, so you could open them if you wanted to, but the beauty is that you don't have to. They will be going with my special edition of Oh Sweet Woods (a new zine). This is the least of the mess that I made.

Right now, it feels good to be back at home and away from the city. It was a rainy day today but I don't mind the rain. I was thinking of doing a little A to Z of where I grew up (complete with pictures), a la my new favourite blog Good-ness, but I'm not sure how much I will actually get to see. It's relaxing time. Ahhh.

Plus, where I grew up isn't too exciting.

language of flowers

It would probably be good if I did some of my homework, but I would rather just make things like this all day long. These were inspired by a book I picked up called "gardening" from 1926, which I think somebody bound themselves. There were eight flower images from colour plates, which I wasn't going to use at first. I changed my mind pretty quickly, and made eight collages. I wish there were more!

This is the problem with using vintage images, there is no endless supply, and I can't just go to a store to restock. But that helps keep each piece completely original, I guess.
