Patrick Beser

I think Patrick's work is fantastic and original. I particularly like his dedication to/inspiration from moleskines, and the work in his reporter style moleskine is very unique in layout and style.

Name (Real or Screename): Patrick Beser
URL (Blog, Website): wizzninetynine.de/ [portfolio], tumblr.wizzninetynine.de/ [blog].
Location (Where are you from?): Berlin, Germany

Q: Describe your work in 10 words or less.
A: Urban trash porn.

Q: What do you like to work with (magazines, photographs, vintage)? Be specific!
A: Magazines, tape, acrylic paint, copic pens.

Q: How long have you been creating collages and what made you start?
A: I've been doing this since 2004. I started creating collages when I first heard of the idea of gluebooking (collages in moleskine books).

Q: Are you solely an artist, or do you work in another profession?
A: I work as a screen designer and web developer.

Q: Do you have any formal art training?
A: At least not in the sense of gluebooking.

Q: Explain your favourite techniques.
A: My current favorite technique is taping. You need some duct tape, stick it on a page in a magazine and strip it off again. The result depends on the tape, the print color and the paper of the magazine. What you get is a very abstract mixture of translucent colors and forms that can be combined again in your moleskine.

Q: Describe your favourite piece ever created.
A: I haven't got a real favorite piece ever created. But I'd say that these two collages are some of my best. Both were created in 2006.

Q: What other artists do you admire?
A: Sebastian Waters, Laura Serra, Thomas Schostok, Jakob Printzlau.

Thanks Patrick!
