marcelo granero

Marcelo's work has a real designer's look to it, which isn't surprising since he is already a design student. I love the order and disorder in his work, the juxtaposition of images mixed with lines and grids.

Name (Real or Screename): Marcelo Granero, nervousbreakdown
URL (Blog, Website): www.flickr.com/nervous-b, nervous-b.deviantart.com/
Location (Where are you from?): Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Q: Describe your work in 10 words or less.
A: Meaningless, punk, trashy, and direct.

Q: What do you like to work with (magazines, photographs, vintage)? Be specific!
A: I usually use old magazines or books, also papers and textures that I find on the street.

Q: How long have you been creating collages and what made you start?
A: I started around 2006. Originally I started drawing, but later I began to mix the drawings with pictures and different kind of textures, and that drove me to collage.

Q: Are you solely an artist, or do you work in another profession?
A: I'm a graphic design student.

Q: Do you have any formal art training?
A: I've been studying graphic design for 2 years now on the University of Buenos Aires.

Q: Explain your favourite techniques.
A: I like to experiment with different kinds of papers, textures, pictures and just about anything I find interesting to work with. I love to mix everything. And it's essential to do the work with my hands, I try to not use the computer at all.

Q: Describe your favourite piece ever created.
A: This is so hard to answer...I don't know, I like to think that every piece I make is unique. I do have ones that l love more than others, but i'ts hard to pick only one.

Q: What other artists do you admire?
A: Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Eduardo Recife, Winston Smith, and so many more...

Thanks Marcelo!
