I posted about Guylaine Couture a little while back, and now, I have the pleasure of featuring her sister as well! Coming from a talented family, Ginette got her inspiration from the 6x6 collages group (posted about here) started by her sister. She has excellent creativity and I love the graphic nature of her work that comes with text and torn images.

Q: Describe your work in 10 words or less.
A: Fun, composition, intuition, textures, expression, color, small size.
Q: What do you like to work with (magazines, photographs,
vintage)? Be specific!
A: I mostly like using text, all kinds, all sizes, for the visual graphic & textures, colors and I always prefer to tear up the paper for the white sensitive effect with the lines and the irregular boards.
Q: How long have you been creating collages and what made
you start?
A: Since 2006. I began by creating one collage a day, small (5 inches square) at evening after work to liberate my brain. After a while I participated in an exchange with the 6 X 6 collage project on Flickr with my sister and I am still participating with others members and still working my art almost every day.
Q: Are you solely an artist, or do you work in another
profession?
A: I am a high school art teacher, and member of a professional artists group named Créatio.
A: I went to university, and many other art institutions—visual art is very present in our family. My dad was an architect and painter, so I was always surrounded by an artistic atmosphere.
Q: Explain your favourite techniques.
A: I don’t have favourite techniques, but I need a specific environment. I need to work in a clean area. I don’t have a real studio but a small room where I create. No place for mess! If there is chaos in the place, it is also the same in my brain and nothing good will emerge. And I benefit from working in small sizes (4, 5 or 6 inch squares) because that way I have to concentrate on the “composition” of a piece more often and I love working on this part. And no need for a big stockroom!
Q: Describe your favourite piece ever created.
A: I really like my small way of creating, and I have fun doing it. But to name one piece: I would say my first oil painting at 6 years old with my dad. The piece confirms for me my way of life!
Q: What other artists do you admire?
A: When I’m surfing on the web I’m so surprised and amazed of all we can discover each day. There are so many people out there doing great art pieces. I really love the work of the Canadian artist Betty Goodwin.
